New touchscreen HMI terminals available from RS Components enhance image display quality for machine operators

OXFORD, UK, 1 October, 2013 - RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the world's leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has announced availability of Schneider Electric's new Magelis GTO range of human machine interface (HMI) terminals. Magelis GTO expands on Schneider Electric's existing range of advanced HMI panels, providing optimised features, high performance, and state-of-the-art image display quality for use in a broad selection of industrial environments such as compact machines, handling systems and pharmaceutical applications.The Magelis GTO terminals feature five sizes of screen display (3.5-inch, 5.7-inch, 7-inch, 7.5-inch, 10.4-inch), each offering a 65K colour TFT touchscreen delivering the best quality of data visualisation for operators. An LED backlight across the range provides dimming functionality and allows efficient energy saving. The 7-inch wide screen offers up to 40% more display area than the standard 5.7-inch model. Thanks to an external keypad with function keys, the screens of the 3.5-inch and 7-inch models provide more display space than in standard terminals of the same dimensions.
Communication is optimised via two serial lines and an embedded Ethernet connection for all Magelis GTO models to ensure access to a full range of Internet services including Webgate, FTP server, diag server, and e-mail. Up-to-date interfaces (USB 2.0, SD cards) simplify operation and maintenance and provide excellent peripheral links. In addition, Schneider Electric's new Vijeo Design'Air application enables remote connection to an HMI terminal over a WiFi network to allow a graphical view of the terminal on a tablet or smartphone
Magelis GTO terminals are easy to install and are designed for compatibility with existing Magelis HMI panels to allow for simple replacement without the need to re-design the machine. The range operates at temperatures up to 55ï‚°C, and holds international certification for use in hazardous environments such as those found in the marine industry. Rugged stainless steel panels are also available and are particularly suited to application in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
