Siemens' new production hall in Fürth open for business

Siemens Industry opened its new production hall at the Siemens site in Fürth on May 22. Encompassing over 10,000 square meters, the new building will make for faster, more flexible processes and more customized production.The new L production hall, completed in a record 14 months, is designed to streamline the production of control cabinets and control systems. The factory employees will benefit from shorter distances and an ultra-modern work environment.
The new hall was officially inaugurated by the responsible Head of the Control Components and Systems Engineering Business Unit Karlheinz Kaul and his commercial colleague Jens Eckert on May 22 in the presence of Fürth's Mayor Dr. Thomas Jung, the Head of Siemens Real Estate Dr. Zsolt Sluitner, and Chief Financial Officer of the Siemens Industry Sector Miguel-Angel López.
60 years of tradition and progress Siemens has been manufacturing electronic products for industrial applications at its Fürth facility for 60 years. With its new hall, Siemens will be able to slash production time by more than half. All the new produc-tion lines adhere to the value stream principle, which coordinates the work load in line with the available capacity.
The room air and machine temperature are continuously measured and controlled. A light management system controls the lighting level depending on the degree of daylight. With this new hall, the location aims to achieve LEED Gold Certification - one of the highest accolades conferred for sustainable construction. This would make Fürth one of the first factories anywhere in Germany to qualify for this prestigious certificate.
